So here it is, my new site. Built using the Astro framework. It started as a simple test; I only planned to test this locally to see what I thought of Astro and its build flow. But as you can see, I pushed the code live.
I like using this site to test concepts. I'm not overly precious about it—maybe I should be, given that it's my "personal brand," but hay. So, I built the site locally, took it for a spin, tested the writing experience, and loved it. So, I grabbed the GitHub repo, headed over to Vercel, and updated the Cloudflare DNS. And here we are.
When I wrote Some Time with Words, I said I would, I said I'd look into workflows! I enjoy developing processes and finding ways to improve my output, so I decided to review my writing workflow. As I shared in Writing with the WordPress Block Editor, I'm not a fan of writing in the native WordPress block editor; I prefer Markdown. I know some plugins solve that, but why am I adding more code to undo code I don't want in the first place?
Anyway, that's enough about the block editor because we're here now. I'm drafting this post in Obsidian on my mobile. I'll push it to GitHub, and it'll make its way to my new site. It's fully version-controlled, fast, and delivered via the tool I enjoy writing with: Obsidian.
This is just a short post. I'll eventually dive deeper into Astro, TypeScript, and other tools I use here. Pagefind is pretty cool; check out the search at the top of this page.
