A few weeks ago I was kindly offered the chance to join Moove, a WordPress specialist web development agency, on their first team building session. The thought of spending a couple of days with a team of highly talented WordPress designers and developers excited me, then I found out it would be half way up a mountain not too far from Prague, I’d need my head checked if I’d refused!
The weekend was a blast. The team was incredibly welcoming and I feel very privileged to have been able to get an insight into the workings of Moove.
To be an ‘Innovative WordPress Agency’ requires a lot of work, it’s all too easy to slip into a workflow that requires little to no forward thinking. Over the two days I witnessed designers, developers, account managers and team leads all being given the opportunity to shine and get involved in the growth and future shape of the company.
With an agency spread across the UK and Czech Republic many different opinions on what is important came out of the conversations. One unified thread was very apparent though; Moove will continue to grow.
The passion from the co-founders Ilona and Adrian is very apparent, not only for the continued development of the company but also for the continued growth of their staff. Team members are encouraged to help build their own futures within the agency and to ensure that their roles are not thought of as ‘just earning a wage’. This kind of development within any team is critical to enable the best out of each member, yet sadly all too often other companies miss this.
We also had an opportunity to take a first look at the new Moove Agency website and it is clear a lot of passion and care is being taken to ensure the site displays the best of what Moove has to offer. There are some exciting features that I have no doubt future clients will be wanting in their own sites.
For some down time we were challenged to climb the highest mountain in the Czech Republic. We did it…in 8 minutes. We had a little help from the cable car. The views were spectacular and just what was needed to get the creative energies flowing.
All in all the weekend consisted of good company, good food, good beer (hats off to the Czech’s!) and best of all it was all focused on making a great Innovative WordPress Agency even better. It was just a shame I had to leave the team early to get back to the UK!
I owe a huge thanks to Ilona, Adrian and the rest of the team at Moove and am happy to announce that I look forward to joining them full time as Director of Operations at the end of October.
