I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to work with some very talented people over the years. These talented individuals come in many different forms, some loud and proud of their skills, others so meek and mild they are almost embarrassed to share their talent.
Unfortunately I’ve seen a lot of talented people overlooked simply because they don’t have the confidence to stand up and be recognised for what they are contributing. I have regularly found that it is in fact these individuals that have the most to offer.
I enjoy people watching and really getting to know the inner person from their outer actions. An individual that is truly talented won’t have become that way by accident, they live and breath the things they enjoy. This can be easily identified in their actions, tone, movement and general demeanor.
I have encountered CEOs, MDs, Managers and other “professional” individuals that simply don’t take the time to appreciate these details.
Whenever possible talented people should be given the opportunity to shine and they will very rarely let you down. I encourage everyone that is in a position to help talented individuals to develop, to do just that. You will get back more than you give.
